What Did Iowa, Boys?

Kate and I took a trip to Iowa this week to visit Katie and her kiddos who were, in turn, visiting her family. Cedar Rapids is absolutely beautiful and such a wonderful contrast to Phoenix. It rained practically the whole time and we just sat around in our jammers and did absolutely nothing... no, wait...

We arrived Thursday evening - the plane ride was supernaturally uneventful and even though I did pop a Zoloft, I know that God was really the one who calmed my nerves - and were greeted by Katie and Amelia who had made a huge "Welcome to Iowa" sign for us. Kinda wish I had thought of taking a picture of that.

After we settled in at "Nanny and Papa's," we headed over to Lee and Karoline's house for dinner and an embarrasing game of badminton. After dessert (Ho Ho's, not Ding Dongs) we took the kids on a walk down the alley. Yep, THE ALLEY.

Oh, and did I mention that in the humidity, my hair looked like this:

Kate's, on the contrary, curled up:

Grandma Betty was teaching the girls how to play, just in case they visit friends in another state and are asked to eat a lot of cheese sticks and then pick up a racquet.

"He weighed a Washington, Boys."

I have no idea what your title means, but I do want to say that you look hot in your humid-hair picture. I can't wait to see more pics!

Robyn beat by 2 minutes and stole my comment. Now I can't think of anything else to say, because I'm just mad.

I don't get the title either. I also don't get "He weighed a Washington, Boys."
Is this Iowa talk? Do they speak another language there? Are you bilingual now? This is great! Do you tutor Iowanese?
Anyways, I am just glad to have you back! :-)

I titally understand the title and the Washington part. I guess it's just Iowa talk. Come visit us and you'll all know. Love the pictures. Regarding Mikele's hair, she only mentioned in about 1,000,000,000 times in 3 1/2 days.

Totally is what I meant to write. I'm giggling now, is anyone else.

It's a song! "What did Io Weigh, Boys?" is how it's said, so the end of the song is "She weighed a Washing Ton, Boys."

I heard it on a kid's cd that someone bought me in ARIZONA.

There are more verses, so if you want me to sing them to you, just call.

I bet Katie has a couple cool sisters. Too bad their pics didn't make the blog :)

Here is a link to some more of the song:

Also, Perry Como sang part of the song way back when. Truth is I was searching for the lyrics and hoping for a recording when I came across this blog.

Lovely blog, BTW.
