Throwback Thursday

Welcome to a new feature here on the BoaL. The point is to post some "oldies, but goodies" every Thursday... but those of you who know me... just don't hold your breath...
So, without further ado...

I give you Daniel. About 5 years ago. At brunch.

This is in honor of Daniel and Nancee's newest daughter, Ivy Grace. Congratulations, guys. Send pictures please! (unless you already have and my sweet, but very busy husband hasn't passed them on to me.)

Back To The Seed

Another year has begun. Kate is now being planted in the Seed on Tuesdays and Thursdays, but as a change from last year, she stays until 3:00. According to her, a great injustice has finally been made right.
The night before, we did a thorough dress-rehearsal.

Eager smile - check.

Pink backback - check. Identification - check. Personalized pillow - check. Blanket that Grandma Cheryl made - check. Lovey named Violet that Aunt Cara made - check. The big day came yesterday, and Kate could not have been more excited. She kept checking with me to make sure I wasn't picking her up after lunch. Gasp!

So very sweet, this girl. Kate and Ms. Deb.

She and Grace are back in her class again this year. Apparently, a big production was made out of nap time, but no sleep was actually had. I'm just glad she didn't take the opportunity to poke her neighbor... "psssst! Are you asleep?"

She declared it the Best Day Ever.

ps - FYI - She is now making all decisions using the "Eni Meni Miney Moe" method. Be cautious in asking her to choose anything.

A Little Story

I was just saying to Holly that I used to tell more stories on this blog... remember the Moon At The Mall, the Man Who Almost Died In Kate's Room, When I Hit A Car While Looking Like a Whore, and the Crazy Day At McDonalds? Well, I've got a new installment for you.
Miles and I were at Aspire, watching Kate do her gymnastics thing. We were supposed to meet Josh and my mom for dinner when she was done, so my mom met us at the gym. At precisely 5:00pm on a Friday no less, Miles took a nose dive into who knows what and ended up looking like this:
Well, it was way bloodier at first. When I tried to stop the bleeding, I lifted up that little flap and saw his adult tooth. As I said, it was 5:00 and neither our pediatrician nor dentist was open. I was concerned about the tooth thing, so after conferring with Astraea, we ended up at urgent care. The Cleanest Place On Earth.
Miles was unfazed and the doctor gave us some sage advice for our money.
"We can't stitch it up. I'll give you some antiseptic to swish in his mouth."
"He's two. He can't swish. Can I swab it on?"
"No. Just have him drink a lot of water and here's a prescription for an antibiotic if it gets puffy or yellow."
"So, there's nothing?"
"Follow up with your dentist."
"Really? Duh?"
After I bathed them in Purell, we went to dinner, but not before my mom got pulled over by a police officer. For having one of those covers on her license plate to get you out of the many camera tickets that both her and I are famous for. She said he was a cute little rookie with those neat sunglasses. He told her that he stopped her because only drug dealers use the plate covers anymore. She asked him if she fit the profile. In the end, he removed it for her. Little bugger.

Oh, and as an encore, Miles headbutted Josh yesterday at a restaurant and I spent 15 good minutes with a bloody towel and a wriggling boy trying to get it to stop. Appetizing.

This is Astraea...

SHE FINALLY LET ME DO IT!!!! I've only created a billion things for Mikele, just HOPING she'd let me makeover her blog. Thank you for trusting me, my friend. P.S. I didn't actually obtain permission to post this...

Pine-ing Away

We got away for a couple of days last week. Josh had to stay home and work (bummer), but we convinced Katie to pack up her two crazies and the two week old and join us. My mom has a getaway cabin in Pine and I'm not sure why I'm not there right now... Miles and Scotty Amelia and Kate - it was so nice to be outside and not feel like your hair is going to catch fire at any instant. We went on many, many golf cart rides. Kate is becoming quite the pro at steering. This is pretty much all that Mac did... naughty thing... ... so I started a little game to amuse myself. *slurp* Amelia and I went on a scavenger hunt to look for toys that got kicked off the back porch. Grandma love Breakfast time...
... and snacktime Katie and the kiddos had to get back to town, but I decided that another 24 hours of fresh air can't hurt anyone. We went for smoothies the next morning and then took a walk around Pine to check out the shops. I found this sign in the thrift store - I'm really not sure "what" it's trying to say... We also found an old school playground... ... yee-haw! Favorite parts? Kate: "Playing with Amelia" Miles: "Playing with Scotty" Me: "Well, come on, it's gotta be the Stacking Of Things On A Newborn Game. Duh."

Stylish

Kate "decorated" her room for our LifeGroup meeting on Tuesday...

... and then she decorated herself.

My favorite part was the black socks withblack sandals. She gets that from me.

Swimmin' Like Fish

We spent the majority of our summer at Pecos Pool doing swimming lessons. Kate learned some new strokes, while Miles went from sinking like a stone to swimming underwater. I now look like I belong on the reservation.
