Throwback Thursday - Katie's Turn

I just said good-bye to Katie. She and the kids are heading to the airport as I type and she'll hand them a one way ticket for Chicago. As much as I know that this is right, that God has a reason for sending them far away, I can't help but say that it just feels wrong. We had plans. Kids growing up together type of plans. But God had another plan and my heart hurts, yet, it is happy at the same time. Happy that I have such wonderful friends and happy that they will be closer to family. Happy that they are right where they're supposed to be. Happy that in heaven, nobody ever moves.
I met Katie 10 years ago in a Bible study. She was engaged to Scott and she used to bring bras to our meetings that she bought at Last Chance for the girls. I went to her wedding reception that was here. I met Josh. She and Scott came to LifeQuest. Then came our girls. Kate and Amelia - best friends through no choice of their own.
We've cried, laughed our heads off, kicked each other under tables, fell asleep talking, carried each other through the yucky stuff and hugged with joy when it was all over.
We have such a long life left - God willing - and we'll get on airplanes and talk long distance. Friendships like these aren't ones you let go of.
I love you, Katie. Miss you already.
Mikele

Been thinking about you today. You are a great friend and heck ... there's nothing you love more than flying, right?? But because I'm not the super sappy type (and no ... I did not tear up ... okay, maybe a little!!) ... just to clarify ... you met Josh before you went to LifeQuest. I know, I know ... not the point of the post. But I just wanted you to know that I pay attention to details :)

HUGS to you and to the Murray crew!

Does this mean I get to be #1 on your Fav 5?!?! Just kidding, Katie...I have so much love for you guys!! As I have REALLY learned over the last few weeks: God's plan is not always our own, but it is good.

My internet is working and I'm crying too. Love you and thanks for all the love. You are a precious forever friend.
Hurry up and come visit.
I went ahead and put you as an emergency contact for Amelia's new school. Is that cool?
