And Another One...

I've procrastinated on writing this post. How do you say goodbye to yet another friend? Another best friend?
I quite honestly have no idea.
So, I'll start here. I remember clearly... years ago... asking God for a friend. I lacked at that time someone who was a kindrid spirit of sorts. Someone who laughed at my jokes and actually knew why they were laughing.
God blessed me. Over the years, He has sent many friends. And in the last 10, He gave me some of the best. Jen and I met in 1998. She was way too cool for me to even attempt to hang out with, but beginning with henna tatoos and through our marriages, babies and everything in between, I count her as one of my favorite people.
Now, she's the third to leave in just over a year and for a lot of reasons, it hit me really hard this time. I'm praying they'll be back in a year, but in the meantime, maybe she can teach San Antonio the appropriate way to dress when in Wal-Mart.
A few of us got together before she left. We ate dinner at Liberty, shared stories and hugged her a whole lot (she loved it).
Kim, Heather, Jen, Brenda, Me and Cathy
Then we dressed her in the armor of God - Texas style. I think the horse was the sword of truth? We ended the night with a little cosmic bowling. Friend, I miss you. Now come home and I'll buy you Boston Market.

Hmm. I'm not funny. Or super cool. I forgot that I was taking her kid to preschool and I think I dressed just like the Walmartians today. You three ... COME BACK, already!!
