Ivy with Giulio - Luke and Daniel's father In between the ceremony and the reception we twirled in our dresses... ...tried to take self portraits... ...took in the surroundings (my kids may have scaled that rock face and my daughter may have scraped up her entire thigh)... ...posed for a family shot... ...participated in some lawn games... ...and played in the vineyard. We always have so much fun at their weddings. The night was filled with various made up songs, contests, and dance numbers. They were dismissing our tables for dinner by "The first person to do such and such..." Our table had about fourteen children and one of the uncles who spoke little English. We had no chance. Finally, with the little ones threatening to pitch low blood sugar fits, I seized on Miles. He walked up to Paola, who was in charge of the dimissing, and said into the microphone, "I'm four. And I'm hungry." And we ate. Sarah had done a brilliant job of making the reception kid-friendly. They each got a bag of goodies including a ring pop and an activity book with stickers. Awesome. Everyone had nametags. Ha! Baby Lucy had a terrific time. Kate made new friends with Hannah - Luke and Daniel's niece And I got to hang out with a longtime friend, Miriam.
Then the dancing began...
It was fabulous. I love it when we get to stay to the very end of weddings. I get so irritated if we miss cake!
Congratulation, Luke and Sarah. Daniel's song is forever etched in our brains. Who's getting married next?
