I'm Pretty Sure That Pluto Made Me A Bad Mom... Or It Could Be All Of The Blameshifting

Pluto, the planet (or star) not the dog. Kate had a project due for school and the subject was planets. Now, I brought this on myself, people. A few months back, her teacher asked them to draw and write about what they wanted to learn in the spring. Well, "what do you want to learn about?" is a difficult question to ask a 4 year old and I think she said, "scorpions" at first and that was just because we were talking about scorpions right then and please don't ask why - I don't remember - so then I had her draw "something" and she finally drew a sun and I jumped on PLANETS! THAT'S A GREAT IDEA and it will look good to Mrs. Deb. Sooooo, it's my fault.

Josh found a website on planets and lo and behold - here comes the Big Debate On Whether Pluto Is Now A Star Or Still A Planet. The internet apparently is split on this issue and we had to come up with 5 facts which one of them SHOULD be how many there are. Dang.

In the end, we wrote 8 - with Pluto being a star. I thought it was funny that I probably screwed it up and apologized to Deb just in case I was wrong. Oh, and a lady in Miles' planes and trains class gave me a whole mean-voiced lecture on how it was a DWARF PLANET and how dare I be so stupid.
Here's the project - do you like the ring around Saturn? She did a great job.

I'm not sure what the final preschool verdict on the number of planets was - all I know is that next time, we're picking scorpions.

I'm going to 8 ... but if you did that much work on her preschool project ... what is the kids' 5th grade report going to look like? Better start researching now!!

That's some serious preschoolin'. Yikes!

And seriously, I also cannot believe you dare to be so stupid and not know that it's a dwarf planet. Good thing she set you straight! I mean, EVERYONE knows that. Geez, Mikele.
